10 Best Places with the Largest Number of Retirees

Many retirees prefer to retire to destinations where they feel comfortable living amongst a similar age group. This is because most prefer to retire to places where they can socialize with people of similar age. If after years of working and living in a family neighbourhood you would prefer to retire where there are simpatico retirees, then read on to find 10 of the best places with the most number of your peers.

1. Laguna Woods, California – This city in Orange County has one of the largest active adult communities – Laguna Woods Village. Located 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean, approximately 90% of residents in this city live in this community. Other 55+ communities in California include Pilgrim Creek Estates in Oceanside approximately half an hour away and Trilogy at the Vineyards by Shea Homes in Brentwood approximately one hour and ten minutes away.

2. Kings Point, Florida – Kings Point in Palm Beach County is a sunny town ideal for retirees. With scores of golf courses and the Atlantic Ocean just a short drive away, seniors can enjoy retirement hitting the links or the beach. The good news – 65% of the population is over 65. PGA Village Verano by Kolter Homes is a 3,000 home community with a championship golf course and approximately 11/2 hrs away from Kings Point.

3. Sun City, Arizona – This is an age-restricted community outside Phoenix. This was the original 55 plus community in the USA and is currently home to 40,000 residents. Other active adult communities in Arizona in proximity to Sun City include Las Palmas in Mesa, Solera Chandler by Del Webb in Chandler and Trilogy at Power Ranch in Gilbert.

4. Pinehurst Village, NC – This is a village in Moore County, and is home to Pinehurst Resort, the historic golf resort. It is known as the base of golf in America and lives up to its name with 43 golf courses.

5. Bella Vista, Arkansas – Located in Benton County, Bella Vista is a resort town which evolved into an active adult community. It is famous for its seven lakes near the Ozark Mountains. Many hours of fishing, swimming and boating and golf are readily available when living here.

6. South Yarmouth, Massachusetts – Gorgeous public salt water and fresh water beaches, golf, fishing, sailing are some of what you can take pleasure in when living in South Yarmouth. In addition, a third of the population of this Cape Cod village is 65 and older.

7. Fredericksburg, Texas – Founded in 1846, Fredericksburg offers a wide variety of attractions for seniors. Wineries, wonderful museums, state and national parks and the home of Texas Tech University. This affordable town provides seniors hours of sight-seeing and enjoyment.

8. Ocean Pines, Maryland – Ocean Pines is just minutes away from the Atlantic Ocean. It is much quieter than Ocean City and is the ideal retirement destination for seniors. There are several age-restricted communities and this plus the 18-hole Robert Trent Jones course at the Ocean Pines Golf & Country Club attract many seniors. Ocean Pines – The Park is a waterfront active adult community you can live in to enjoy all this and more.

9. Pahrump, Nevada – Pahrump is less than an hour from the vibrant city of Las Vegas. You can expect plenty of sunshine and as lots attractions when you live in this desert community. Wineries, casinos, museums and national parks are some of what you will delight in.

10. Camano, Washington – The last best place with the most number of retirees is Camano. Bowling, wine tasting, fishing and plenty of sight-seeing and gorgeous views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains are some attractions you will enjoy when you retire in Camano.
