2013 Promises Great Entertainment for 55+ Adults Living in Delaware

Delaware residents and visitors alike are in for a great 2013. This is a state where some form of entertainment occurs at least once a month. Tax-free shopping, historical sites, outdoor adventure and festivals and whatever you can think of are all up for grabs in Delaware. So, if you think living in Delaware is boring and you have nothing to look forward to, then think again! You will find out that 2013 is going to be a major year in the festivals calendar of Delaware.

Delaware Festivals

There is an abundance of festivals happening all year round in Delaware. If you are interested in being a part of these festivals, you should make your plans now. Below are some of the festivals that may interest you.

The Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival- The Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival kicks off the year on the 2nd of March 2013. This will be held at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center where chocolate lovers can sample all varieties of chocolates and take part in baking contests. Be there at 11.30am and taste all the chocolates you can till it runs out at 3.30pm.

Old Dover Days –The history of the first state is celebrated through May 3rd to the 5th in Delaware’s capital city. Named Old Dover Days, this celebration features parades, walking tours, Maypole dancing and loads of delicious food. This is the county’s longest-running and largest festival. The event started in 1933 and has been a popular event for Delaware residents to enjoy themselves to their heart’s content. You can visit the home of the Governor, explore Revolutionary War, Civil War and World War II encampments, and sample an array of foods from more than 40 food vendors. Celebrate 80 years as a first state by vising Delaware in May.

Wilmington Flower Market – This is a three-day event, at Rockford Park, that promises fun and entertainment and is dedicated towards improving the lives of children in Delaware. The event kicks off on the 9th of May and continues till the 13th. This event features live entertainment, rides, food and the most outstanding feature, a large selection of plants and flowers for your garden.

Dupont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival –This event is from the 17th to the 23rd of June and is a week-long outdoor music festival held at the Rodney Square in Wilmington. This festival promises you a good time. You can spend the entire week listening to various jazz artists and sampling the varied food items sold at the venue. No entrance fee is necessary as the event is free and happens irrespective of weather conditions.

Delaware Wine and Beer Festival – This is your chance to taste local brews and wines from various locations in the states. This festival is held in Dover on the 20th of October. There will only be a limited number of tickets this year. So, ensure you purchase your tickets before they run out.

There are a host of festivals happening, in Delaware, throughout the year.  You can decide which ones you would enjoy the best and participate in these or you can participate in all the festivals.  Whatever you decide, you can be sure to have a good time.
