A Few Reasons for Active Adults to be Active on Facebook

July 24, 2014 • Fenny Peiffer

Tech savvy seniors

More and more seniors are becoming quite active on Facebook, which throws away the theory of over 50s being technologically inept. They do so for a variety of reasons. If you have not opened a Facebook or FB account by now, you should really get with the program and join the thousands of seniors who are already active on FB in a big way. Here are a few reasons why you should.

Keep in Touch
Facebook is a superb tool to keep in touch with family and friends. Your children may be late with pictures of grandkids and other events. But, you will not miss out on anything important if you are a member on Facebook. If you have a Facebook account, you will see your grandkid’s first steps, your daughter’s ultrasound and your nephew’s graduation pictures almost as soon as it happens. You will be able to “chat” with family and friends, find long lost school friends and share pictures with them and much more.

Fun and Entertainment
When it comes to fun and entertainment, Facebook is up there with the rest of them. Whatever is happening to your relatives and friends, will be available to you via Facebook. Life is never dull as someone is always uploading information or pictures or snippets every second. Facebook is also full of games that entertain many seniors. These games help keep your mind active, and you, engaged in a pastime you will not be able to live without.

Selling and Buying
Facebook is also used to buy and sell things. If one of your friends is selling pottery work, she or he can advertise their work via Facebook. The same goes for you. If you have something to sell, all you have to do is take a picture and upload it to Facebook and use a suitable caption. If you wish to buy something, you can scroll around or ask your “friends” for suggestions. You will be surprised at the number of comments you will receive!

Facebook is interesting and entertaining. Join the thousands of seniors who are having fun playing games, and keeping in touch with relative and friends, as we speak. Don’t be left behind.
