Chickahominy Falls, Greater Richmond’s first 55+ agri-community, held its Founders’ Day drawing on July 12, 2018. Because there were so many interested buyers and few opening home sites initially for sale, a drawing was required. This was the first opportunity for prospective buyers to purchase in the opening phase of Chickahominy Falls and 21 lucky buyers became the Founding Homeowners at Chickahominy Falls.

“The response to Chickahominy Falls has been overwhelmingly positive since day one,” said Roger Glover, principal in The Crescent Group (TCD), developer of Chickahominy Falls. “Our vision of healthy living in a farm-inspired community with opportunities for work and play has really struck a chord with 55+ homebuyers. People are ready for more than the typical amenity package, and ready to join us in pioneering a new kind of active adult community. I don’t know if 21 sales in one hour, is a record in Richmond, but it certainly proves our region is yearning for what we providing at Chickahominy Falls.”

Founders’ Day was the first of two major milestones in July, the second being a Barn Raising event to celebrate The Barn at Woodside Farms going vertical. The Barn is the first signature amenity at Chickahominy Falls. Upon completion it will overlook Woodside Farms, the 10-acre working farm at the heart of the community.  Agriburbia of Colorado, has been instrumental in the design and development of the neighborhood farm concept and infrastructure.  They have installed: high-tech drip irrigation systems, a hoop house for seed germination and sewed the first crop to include – a variety of kale, wild flowers, spinach, collards, squash, and daisies.  Currently in framing, the Barn is being constructed by Geo-barns of Vermont and will serve as both a working barn and social center for the community, complete with professional demonstration kitchen and entertainment areas inside and out.

The Crescent Group celebrated the Barn Raising on July 26th with a special event hosted at Chickahominy Falls. The event was an opportunity for The Crescent Group to thank its development and construction teams, along with key supporters and members of the media.

Located in Hanover County, VA, about 20 minutes from downtown Richmond, Chickahominy Falls is situated on 180 acres abutting Cedar Lane, Holly Hill Road, and the Chickahominy River. It is the first and only “Agri-Community” in the Greater Richmond area blending age-qualified residences, amenities, orchards and a working farm. Over 73 of the community’s 180 acres will be dedicated to the farm and orchards, Farm House and Farmer’s Market and outdoor open gathering spaces for harvest socials and other community gatherings. Anchoring the recreation, health and wellness amenities will be a clubhouse, fitness center, pool, and an elaborate network of walking trails and exercise stations that will wind throughout the community alongside mature trees, gardens, open spaces, a neighborhood pond, and the Chickahominy River.
