It’s almost that time of year again… the time of year when we all dress like ghouls or ghosts, drink too much “blood” and walk around like zombies. Yes, it’s time to get your Halloween costumes ready and plan your party. Read on, if you need any ideas on costumes and party ideas and how to make Halloween cupcake.

 

Party Ideas for Halloween

The perfect party will make your Halloween extra special. If you haven’t come up with a theme for your party try out some of these ideas.

  • Pumpkin Carving Party – Invite your neighbors and friends to bring along their own pumpkin and spend the evening carving or painting their pumpkin. You can try doing this outdoors and enjoy the crisp fall air.
  • Costume Party – This is a great way to bring on a little creativity to your lives. The hype is all about who will wear the best costume. The scarier the better.
  • Haunted House – Let all your friends and neighbor pitch in to decorate your community center or home with all the Halloween decorations.

Costume Ideas for Halloween

You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy dressing up. Halloween is all about having fun and being creative no matter what your age. So, what will you go as this Halloween? Consider Wonder Woman, the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter, Popeye and Olive Oil, Mario in Super Mario Brothers, and perhaps if you are going with a group go as Kiss.

Cupcakes for Halloween

Now we come to the most important part of this post. Halloween cupcakes! Here’s a recipe you can try out.

Candy Corn Cupcakes with Frosting
This is a great-tasting cupcake recipe and is a hot favorite among trick-or-treaters. Keep them handy when they come knocking on your door.

Ingredients

  • 1 x 18.25oz package white cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 14 drops red food coloring
  • 22 drops yellow food coloring
  • 6 drops green food coloring
  • 2 cups prepared white frosting
  • 12 pieces of yellow, orange and white candy corn
  • 12 pieces of brown, orange and white candy corn

Method

  1. Pre-heat over to 350°F.
  2. Line 24 cupcake cups with paper liners.
  3. Put the cake mix in a bowl and add water and vegetable oil.
  4. Add the eggs.
  5. Use an electric mixer on low, and beat the cake mix until thoroughly combined.
  6. Pour half the mix into another bowl.
  7. Divide the remaining in half and place in 2 separate small bowls.
  8. Mix 4 drops of red food coloring and 6 drops of yellow into the largest portion of cake mix for orange.
  9. Mix 10 drops of red, 12 drops of yellow and 6 drops of green food coloring into the smaller bowl for brown.
  10. Stir 5 drops of yellow food coloring into the last remaining bowl of cake mix.
  11. Place yellow cake batter (about 1/3 full) in the bottom of 12 pre-prepared cupcake cups.
  12. Spoon brown batter into the remaining 12 pre-prepared cupcake cups about 1/3 full.
  13. Spoon orange mixture over the yellow and brown layers, about 2/3 full.
  14. Be careful handling the mix so that you don’t mix the layers.
  15. Place cupcakes, carefully, in the oven and bake for 18 – 22 minutes.
  16. Check if cupcakes are ready by inserting a toothpick into the center of the cupcake. It should come out clean.
  17. Allow to cool.
  18. Frost the cupcakes once they are cool and place a yellow, orange and white candy corn on top of each cupcake.
