Brown spots on the skin can be alarming for most 55 and over seniors. They appear on your face, back, arms and neck. Some spots are common and may disappear after the application of certain creams and lotions. However, age spots, which appear with the aging process, are not that easy to get rid of. So, how can you get rid of these unwanted spots on your skin? Some home remedies are provided below that may help take away the spots.

The Application of Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is known to bleach dark spots. Add some sugar to the juice of one lemon and apply it to the area and leave for half an hour before rinsing. You can also combine honey with lemon juice, and this may be better as lemon juice dries the skin and honey provides moisture to the skin. Results may be apparent in about 2 months.

The Application of Aloe Vera

This skin-friendly herb helps keep the skin moist and fresh and young-looking. Simply cut a leaf, and take out the gel with your finger. Apply the gel on the brown spots and leave for half an hour. Rinse thoroughly. Repeat twice a day for a month. If you don’t have an aloe vera plant at home, you can always purchase the gel from any store or online.

The Application of Fruit Enzymes

The phytonutrient compounds found in fruit enzymes are excellent for healthy and brighter skin. They are also good for brown spots on the skin. Make a paste with strawberries and peeled apricots and apply on the spots, leave for 15 minutes and rinse off.

The Application of Rice and Watermelon

Watermelon juice contains an anti-aging agent beneficial for the skin. Insert a few uncooked grains of rice into a hole in a watermelon rind. Close the hole with the rind, wrap it in plastic wrap and leave it overnight in the refrigerator. In the morning, take the plumped rice out of the watermelon and blend or mash it to make a paste. Apply on the skin and rinse after approximately 15 minutes.

There are many more home remedies that help take away brown spots. However, please be careful about allergic reactions.
