It’s exciting to see new data coming out related to Physical Activity and Cognition, with more studies finding a positive link between moving the body and maintaining a healthy brain.
No wonder that in a 2012 study published in the Journal Stroke, Ana Verdelho, M.D. stated: “We strongly suggest physical activity of moderate intensity at least 30 minutes three times a week to prevent cognitive impairment.”
At North Hill, a vibrant living community in the Boston area, we are always seeking out the latest research and findings in brain health and innovating ways to bring those benefits to our members. I recently participated in a webinar presented by Rob Wimmimgham, Ph.d. Wimmingham Identified 19 health benefits associated with physical exercise. Check out how many show that body-mind connection!

For these reason and more, North Hill has developed a program, Peak Performance, that assists with mental fitness and brain health. We combine strength training and aerobic exercise in our newly renovated Fitness Center, with brain exercise in North Hill’s Technology Lab. Here, residents work with Posit Science™, research-based brain fitness software. The program includes various 3 – 8 week brain exercise modules that use auditory and visual exercises to enhance response time, short-term memory and concentration.
Physical exercise improves cognitive ability, and North Hill is excited to see the vibrant proof of this body-mind connection among members of our community.
