Senior Couple Playing Wii

Who would have thought that Nintendo’s Wii will provide fun and entertainment for active adults?! When this game came into the market, everyone thought only children could and will play this game. However, now, thanks to Nintendo, more and more active adults are finding the Wii a great choice for their pastime.

Perhaps the reason for its success with active seniors was because Nintendo marketed Wii for “kids” of all ages. The most popular games with active adults were golf, tennis, bowling, and boxing. Many active adult communities decided that this was a great addition to the amenities available, and now many communities provide seniors the chance to become young boys and girls at heart, enjoying themselves with the Wii.

Wii for Exercise

Wii Sport is excellent entertainment and exercise for you. This game gets you off the couch and moving. This is extremely important to ensure a healthy lifestyle. However, it is Wii Fit that helps you take exercise to a whole new level. This is an excellent exercise regimen where it helps you improve balance, strength and stamina. Wii Fit comes with a special balance board that monitors your movements and criticizes your errors, as well as, measure your weight. The balance board enables you to evaluate your balance and fitness level and keep your posture straight during yoga exercise. Wii Fit, as you can see, is an ideal game for you if you live in a place where you cannot venture outdoors for exercise or if your exercise opportunities are limited. However, it is recommended that you consider the advice of a health expert before beginning the Wii Fit or Wii Sport.

Wii for Fun

Wii is not only a game for health. It is also a game for fun and entertainment. If you have a Wii console in your home, you and your buddies can have the best time playing games and even dancing. You are sure to have fun laughing and bantering at each other’s clumsy moves and you will not feel the time passing. You can enjoy Wii games, such as, Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy and Wii Play with your group of buddies and have the time of your life.

Wii for Brain Stimulation

Wii is an excellent game for mental stimulation. As you know, this is extremely important to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia common with the aging process. Brain Age and Wii Degree are especially useful in keeping your mind active and stimulated. The America Association of Retired Persons strongly recommends Big Brain Academy for keeping the mind active and sharp. This too can be played with a group and, therefore, helps not only you to keep your mind active, but also your friends’.

There are many Wii games and entertainment options available for active seniors such as you. For example, you can try Wii Fishing Resort and the Sega Bass Fishing with Fishing Rod Kit if you are into fishing, Wii Yoga for fit and toning, Wii Country Dance and Zumba® Fitness, etc. So, if you want to try something unique and different the next time you have your friends over, get a Wii console and some Wii CDs and you are sure to have the best time!
