About California

California is located on the West Coast and is the most populous state. California is bordered by Nevada to the east, Oregon to the north, Arizona to the southeast and the Mexican State of Baja California to the south and the Pacific Coast to the west. The center of California is a major agricultural area. It has the third-longest US coastline. As California is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, earthquakes are quite common to the State. The gold rush of California began in 1848, hence the nickname for the State, and this led to a major social and demographic change. However, the nickname “Golden State” is also because of the beautiful golden poppy flowers and the brilliant sunshine the State is famous for.

California has beautiful landscapes that take one’s breath away. Whether it is mountains, valleys or waterfalls, fantastic rock formations, California has it all. For example, California shares the highest mountain range in the southwest, the Sierra Nevada. Then there is the highest mountain peak in the US, Mount Whitney and the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere, Death Valley. This is the only state that has both the highest and lowest points in one State. With all these wondrous natural beauties, California is an ideal place for those looking for a 55 and over communities to retire.

The temperature in California is ideal for 55+ adults. The majority of the State has a Mediterranean climate with cool, rainy winters and dry summers. Endemic species thrive in this State because of the diverse ecological conditions. California has the most collection of the largest, tallest, and oldest trees. The redwood and the giant sequoia are among the oldest living things on earth, and YES, you can find it in California. Apart from this, you will find the Douglas fir, Sugar Pine, Tanbark oak, broad-leafed maple, huckleberry, alpine buttercup, mariposa, tulip, etc. in this State. The Joshua tree is native to the Mojave Desert.
