10 Best Beach Towns for Retirees

Most people dream of the day when they’ll be able to sit in the sun, listen to the waves crashing on the surf and enjoy the peaceful pace of life. Although many beach retirement destinations may be over budget, there are a few places that are affordable yet provide you with all the amenities you are looking for. Here are the ten best beach towns for retirees.

Port Townsend, Washington – This is a small town situated northeast and across Puget Sound from Seattle, designated as a national historic district. Lovely Victorian buildings, plenty of coffee shops and restaurants, popular festivals, and excellent health care facilities make Port Townsend a great choice beach town. There is lots of nature to enjoy as well as your dream of enjoying the sound of the waves.

Oak Island, North Carolina – Although Oak Island is a popular tourist destination during the summer, it is a quiet laidback beach town the rest of the year. Georgetown Area, South Carolina – If looking for a laidback lifestyle, the Georgetown area is the best. Although it is not located on a beach, there are beaches within close proximity. Beautiful green golf courses, parks, boating, hiking, and fishing are just some of the amenities available in the Georgetown area.

Boynton Beach, Florida – Although located in one of the busiest areas of Florida, Boynton Beach is still untouched by tourism. It still remains a quiet, small-town which is ideal for retirees. This area of Florida may be a little more expensive for retirement, but this area offers plenty of amenities.
