Get Some Winter Sun! Escape to Murcia – dubbed the “Arizona” of Spain

Active Adult Communities Travel

After the fun of the Holiday Season and New Year, the winter months can seem rather dull. Why not plan ahead and take a trip to a sunnier spot? Why not think about an amazing trip to Spain this Winter – or even further ahead to Spring or Summer? Here’s an opportunity to rent a private 2-bedroom apartment overlooking the golf course in the gated community of the 5-Star InterContinental Mar Menor Golf and Resort.

Mar Menor Golf and Resort Spa

This beautiful golf community is located in the undiscovered region of Murcia. This apartment features a 1st-floor apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, queen sized bed with a “marshmallow” topper in the master en suite bedroom. The main terrace overlooks the 12th hole of the 18–hole Jack Nicklaus design golf course with far-reaching views of the local town of Torre Pacheco and the foothills leading to Murcia in the distance – making for gorgeous sunsets. The smaller terrace is nestled amidst banana plants and palm trees – a great spot for your morning coffee. There’s an amazing residents’ pool adjacent to the golf course (open from April – October) and large grassy areas in front and back to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. The apartment features such amenities as a 3D TV, internet cable TV, internet (both at an additional cost) a separate fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, fridge/freezer, and washer and dryer.

Golf for the Golf Enthusiasts

The 18-hole Jack Nicklaus design golf course winds through the community. Additionally, the region of Murcia offers you 6 additional 18-hole golf courses within close proximity to the resort. A maximum forty-minute drive will take you to some of the best golf courses in the region including Saurines, La Torre, and Alhama. The superb golf experience at these places gives this region the name The Arizona of Europe.

Food and Entertainment

The Intercontinental Mar Menor Golf and Resort Spa is a place where you can enjoy some of the best cuisines: Italian, Spanish, and Japanese, it’s all available within the community. There is even an Irish Tavern that features sports TV, food, and music, and also a golf bar for after your 18 holes. The Boulevard is a street of restaurants, shops, and a bank. The Triana/Mombasa restaurant/nightclub serves wonderful local Tapas and fish and it is located just outside the gates of the community. On the Boulevard there are also a couple of Indian restaurants, and if you are in need of some good-old American-style hamburgers head out to Route 66 where pizzas and delicious Mediterranean foods await you.

Beaches in the Murcia Region

If you want some sun, walking or bicycling on the boardwalk, water sports on the amazing Mar Menor, or sampling some great local specialties, Los Alcazares Beach beckons. A short 15-minute drive gets you to a beach that is frequented by the Spanish themselves, and which has been awarded the “Blue Flag” status by the Spanish Tourist Board.
