Florida

What better way to spend a few winter days than taking in the sun in the Sunshine State? Florida is a favorite of snowbirds and all types of retirees. All that coastline, sunny skies, and great hot spots attract hosts of snowbirds during the winter months. Although a bit costly, Florida offers you a plethora of activities and attractions. Plus, don’t forget the golf course on the Gulf Coast. If you want a bit of quiet, you can consider less crowded areas, such as Tampa Bay and Sarasota.

California

This is another popular winter getaway for a lot of retirees and snowbirds. If you wish to experience resort-style living and a gorgeous climate, nothing’s better than Palm Springs. Affordable homes can be found in the Palm Desert area and golfers will find Indian Wells a great place. Plus, don’t forget to visit Disney Land where you are never too old to be a child.

Arizona

This sunny state offers snowbirds a number of areas to winter. Tucson, approximately two hours away from Phoenix, is a great place to enjoy the small-town charm, as well as, big-city attractions. There are also a number of attractions in Tucson including some great golf courses. You can visit the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum; visit the historic district of El Presidio and the Reid Park Zoo with its surprisingly good collection of exotic animals.

Texas

The state of Texas has a number of warm winter destinations suitable for retirees. If you wish for a tropical beach setting, head out to the South Texas areas. If you are interested in the music scene, check out Austin where you can also enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. In Houston, you can visit the NASA Johnson Space Center and the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens a part of the Museum of Fine Arts, and more.

As you can see, there are a number of snowbird destinations open to you. So, make the most of your options this winter.
